I just signed up with Surpasshosting and I am having a problem updating my domain DNS on my previous host. My old host has suspended my account and I cannot log into it to make any changes. They don't reply to any emails and they do not show any other contact information on their website. What are my options?

Did you register your domain through your old host? Or a separate registrar?

I know of no easy way to get a domain transferred, without contact with the current registrar. Court action, or the UDRP are the only two ways I really know of, and that is going to cost you quite a bit of money and time.

Post the companies name, and your domain, and I will see what info I can track down for you.

Well, I found your domain in another post by you, so I looked it up, and the registrar is actually dotregistrar.com Now they only provide the domain registration, but there was a notice dated in May about Feature Price and Hosting Network here.

Also, the Nameservers that are serving your domain are owned by dotregistrar.com, so maybe they are the ones you need to contact about this.

Well, I heard back from dotregistrar and they told me to contact the webmaster of where my site is currently hosted. Here's the story with my old provider...

My site usually transfers around 5-6GB of traffic per month (I am allowed 6GB per month). However, for some reason, my site transferred almost 11GB of traffic last month. I don't know if someone posted a link to my site or what but all of a sudden I had tons of traffic. I got an email from my provider with 3 days left in the month saying I was over my traffic quota and that my site would be suspended if I did not upgrade my service. They waited until I was 5.5GB OVER my quota limit to tell me I was over my quota! Now, they want me to pay $120 ($20 per GB) to get my account turned back on to make up for the prior overage. When I asked them why they waited so long to email me about my overage, they told me that it is my responsibility to check my traffic and that I need to "upgrade accordingly" throughout the month to make sure I don't go over. What a scam.
