Is there a difference in name servers and domain servers? I changed mine about 40 hours ago and I'm still waiting on propagation. Anyway, I checked the link above for my domain milspouse.com and my name servers are listed as my previous host's servers, but my domain servers are listed under Surpass .. ?

Actually, the more I think about this, the weirder it seems. If I am still waiting for my new account to show up instead of my old hosting account, I wouldn't be getting an error saying that my site could not be found, right? That's the error I'm getting - that my site can't be found! HELP!

It ended up being around 60 GB in about a day and a half, the traffic monitor was showing speeds of 60-80 Mbit/sec at some points, so it was certainly cruising along there. (Won't be happening again though lol) About your copyright laws, could you name specific bands? You say they're foreign bands, but what you might find is the label they're signed to in that country is actually the local affiliate of a big-name label, based in the US. EG. Sony runs local affiliates in many countries, each specialising in that countries particular type/language of music. Also, while US copyright law may not apply, your own countries will. It' still a grey area, because then you have (for example) people/groups that release Techno/Dance/German Dance tracks that DJs use in mixes. These songs are copyrighted, and technically the record label (or the person producing the songs) could sue and eventually the entire DJ industry would fall down. DJs don't because thye like having their music out there - in fact they're about the only group of people who have realized the potential of P2P filesharing and harness it however they can, to get their name out there. |

Because the site is hosted in the United States, American copyright laws will apply. You are always better off getting permission to use media files that you do not create and own, but I think if you are just streaming without download, you will be fine unless someone specifically questions you in regards to it. Your site could be risked being shut down, or you may just have to remove the media files, if someone does get ticked off because of your use... Copyright laws are a very grey area, especially in regards to media and the internet.

name servers take care of IPs and make them human readable. there will be chaotic situation without them. Thanks a lot for the informative responses. Madman, the record companies are not affiliated with giants such as Sony or others. They are just limited to that country. All I wanted was to stream just a sample of some Bangla music, especially to foreign audiences, to make it known to the world that we make the best rock/metal in south asia, show the diversity in our music. it is kind of complicated because copyright laws are not implemented there well or even the laws do not apply to certain songs. folk music for example. nobody really owns them, a lot of artists perform the same folk song and earns money, no body can sue over it because there is no original owner. its been happening for hundreds of years. however recent pop/metal or pretty much everything else are copyrighted.
