New to everything

Hi

Here's my situation. I want to create an web site by using one of the Open source CMS softwares. Ex, PHPBB2, Mambo. Right now, i have registered a Domain Name at GoDaddy.com. Here are some of the questions:

1) What kinda of plan is best suitble for me? for an Forum website, or a portal

2) What do i have to do with the domain name that i registered in Godaddy?
can i just use it or something that needs to be done ?

3) is the website pubished right after you install the software with out modification? ex phpbb2.

Hi, welcome to Surpass Hosting.

1) Really depends on the popularity of the site, members, posting activity, etc... If it's extremely popular, you might have to move to a semi-dedicated or dedicated plan. Otherwise, it's guesswork to determine the amount of space and bandwidth you require.

2) Your GoDaddy domain will work perfectly with Surpass (it's a register of choice for many Surpass clients.) Once your account has been activated and you recieve your welcome mail, you'll change your DNS servers to the ones noted in the mail.

3) It's been a long time since I've used it, but yes, I believe most software will work immediately after install, though you'll often have to do some modification to get the forums and various other areas setup to the way you need it.

There are a lot of helpful people here at Surmunity, so if you need any help with anything to do with your account, this is the place to ask.

Feel free to ask any further questions.

Of course, you can upgrade at any time if you end up needing more space or bandwidth. It's really hard to determine. I'd suggest planning a budget to see what you can afford. Though, the oc5 account seems to a favourite for many people. Lots of bandwidth and a great price.

Wait for them to activate your account. This shouldn't take more than a day.
