Questions about oc5 Plan
Does the oc5 plan have a setup fee?
Also, is there any difference between oc plans and regular plans besides the payment schedule (monthly vs yearly)? What is Scripta? I click the Info button and it takes me to the same page. Thanks! |

There is no setup fee for any of the shared plans, including the oc5 plan.
Nope, no difference except the payment. You get all the normal features. Scripta is no longer used and has been replaced with Fantastico. You're welcome! Feel free to ask any additional questions. |

Thanks for the quick response Haugland. I did have one more question. I'm thinking of using Macromedia Studio to design and manage my site. Do surpass servers allow users to install ColdFusion server for their site? Is there any support for this software?

The only way I believe you can install ColdFusion is if you're running a dedicated server. It's been brought up a couple times, and one of the big reasons for that is the license cost. You should be able to use Dreamweaver to build and publish your website though (as I do), but I think ColdFusion isn't an option in a shared environment.

OK, I got an OC5 question:
I sent in my OC5 'upgrade' form yesterday. I got back an email at 4:30edt stating the Website is now active on a Surpass server. Scattered throughout the message from <auto-donotreply surpasshosting.com> are encrypted links like these:DNS for our shared hosting accounts: {{primary_ns}} {{primary_ns_ip}} {{secondary_ns}} {{secondary_ns_ip}} and IP: {{ip}} Username: {{whm_username}} Password: {{whm_password}} Now, I assumed that my upgrade had gone through and was working. When I logged on to CPanel and tried to add an addon domain, it refused to and said: Sorry, you are not allowed to add any more than (0) addon domains! The domain below was not setup! I'm supposed to get 2 addon domains and 2 parked domains. What's going on? Is it because it's now the weekend and things won't get done until Monday?

dboucher -
Welcome to Surmunity (I know you've been here a little while, but I'm slow ).I'd say you may have been a victim of an "oops". If you want to wait until Monday to see if you get anything else, that's fine, but my suggestion would be to forward the email you received to "support at surpasshosting dot com" and ask them to take a look at it and help you get it straightened out. Based on my experience, they will be most helpful and get you up and running. John

John,
Thanks for the suggestion. Just so happens, things are being worked out as we write. Somehow, they never got my upgrade request. I paid with PayPal and everything should be OK pretty soon. Funny how things get fixed just as you mention it here on Surmunity...
