Alternate domain name

I host a site today called www.iabsi.com

Supposed I want a web address www.wxyz.com to redirect to www.iabsi.com. What is the least cost method of doing this?
I don't want any storage or need email on wxyz.com, just a redirect.

Is that what $15.99 domain name does? Is there a better explanation of this $15.99 plan that I just can't find? Is $15.99 a one-time fee? Does it presume I host my "primary" domain with you guys?
Do I still have to signup the domain with a registrar.

I wish life was simple.

Thanks.

You simply need to set up www.wxyz.com as a "parked domain" on the account with your "main" domain and the redirect will take place (after you change the nameservers with your registrar, of course).

Thanks, Evan. So then do I have to:
a. register and pay for a domain name? AND
b. pay for "parked domain" service?

Depending where you register your domain name, you can just "forward" it to the current domain you have. It will save you from having to purchase a parked domain slot.

Bill,

I'm afraid life isn't simple, but this is, if you do it right.

First things first: Purchase your 2nd domain. Make sure that you purchase it from a registrar that includes free forwarding (even some of the more expensive registrars charge an extra fee, so check first).

Each registrar has a slightly different control panel, but what you'll want to do is forward your second domain to your site (www.iabsi.com).

There are 2 types of forwarding, URL Redirect and URL Frame. If you want the browser to change to "www.iabsi.com" when they put in the other domain, then use URL Redirect. If you want the browser to still display the other domain name, then use URL Frame.

As for as cost, you will have 3 charges:

The annual cost of iabsi.com
The annual cost of your second domain (no charge for forwarding if you picked the right registrar)
The cost of hosting iabsi.com

See? It really is simple.

John

Failure is not an option. It comes standard with all Microsoft products.
