Some Clarifications regarding transfer, billing and potential upgrade

Hi:

I am moving from an existing host (with cpanel). need some noob-type clarifications:

1) I have backed up the entire (existing site). There are 5-6 email accounts with over 50MB stored emails. Upon transfer can these email accounts be restored to the new host? I've never done it earlier - so i am hesitant. I know I can rebuild the whole site in a jiffy - but I am not sure how I would do the email account transfers with all emails.

2) Since I already have the domain. Is there any domain "transfer" fee in addition to the hosting charges. i.e. if I sign up with the standard plan - that means that I pay $48 a year (fixed) or are there any other fees to park/transfer the domain from my existing host etc.?

3) As of now, I am contemplating on signing up an annual contract for the standard plan - if I decide to "upgrade" my plan to the "power" plan before 12 months... will I be able to do so and will there be any sort of upgrade fee or anything of that sort.

thanks much for your time.

regards
aj

I don't know about #1, maybe someone here does, or you might contact salessurpasshosting.com and ask them. I know that if you give Support your old cPanel information they will go in and transfer your whole site for you.

As for #2, nope, you aren't charged to move your domain. You'll just change your nameserves to the ones Surpass gives you and that'll be that. Unless, you don't own your domains and you're transferring the ownership from someone else, then that would be over my head since I've never done that. But I assume you own your domain, so it's probably moot.

#3, you can upgrade whenever you feel. You'll be creditted for the unused portion of your billing, too once your upgrade is finished. If you choose to do so, that is. And nope, there's no fee to upgrade. You just fill out an upgrade form and order the new plan.

Hope I helped! And welcome to Surpass and Surmunity!

buldag -

I believe ceo was correct on all accounts. As for item #1, since your old host uses cpanel, Surpass can transfer your site for you. I believe that will include the email as well. Once again, if someone else knows different, they can jump in and correct me.

Since you are looking to pay annually, have you looked at the oc plans? The oc5 plan might be a really good fit for you. It can only be paid annually, but since that's what you were talking about doing, you may want to look at it and compare it to the plans you mentioned. You can find out more about it here: http://www.surpasshosting.com/ocplans.php

Welcome to Surmunity!

John
