Questions about oc5 shared webhosting plan

Hi,

This deal looks amazing. However, I have a few questions for either surpass staff or users who buy their service.

1. How do you handle multiple domains?? Let's say I register another domain and want it to access a subdomain on my main domain (for example, newdomain.com will connect to newdomain.maindomain.com). This option comes free with the oc5 plan, right??

2. How do you handle FTP access? Do I need to pay extra for a dedicated IP? If so, how much?

3. Why is oc5 so much cheaper than the rest of the shared plans??? What is it lacking?? Is fantastico and cpanel supported?

Thanks in advance for any response. I really hope to do business with Surpass Hosting.

The oc plans are cheaper because you can only pay on a yearly schedule, whereas the other plans you can choose between monthly or yearly payments.

Anyway to get to you other questions, you can set up addon domains to use other domains and they'll work just as you want - they point to a subdomain that is created but act like they're a separate domain. You get 2 with the oc5 plan, and I think extra ones would cost $10 (or is it $15). It's a onetime fee, though.

As for FTP accounts, you'd set those up in cPanel. It's pretty straightforward. You don't need to purchase a dedicated IP, though you're welcome to. I forget off the top of my head how much it is, something like $5 a year or something nominal like that. Though as I said, it's not necessary.

Hope I helped you out!

Actually I just checked - a dedicated IP is $25 a year and addon domains are $15.

I'm still not sure how FTP would work WITHOUT a static/dedicated IP, but I will trust you guys.

Arkabas - As far as I know, unless you plan to have anonymous FTP access no dedicated IP address is needed. I'm pretty sure Surpass don't even allow anonymous FTP.

Ah, that explains it. I was meaning to ask about anonymous FTP access (i.e., ftp://yoursite.com) rather than FTP access via password and username. Oh well, no big problem.
