tranferring my domain name

hello
I have had nothing but trouble with my current host and want to change
How do i tranfer my domain to another host, so i have nothing to do with my old host again?
If it is tranferred here, will you be the ones that will renew it when its due?

Does it cost anything to transfer?
or does it cost anything to transfer if i buy a hosting plan?

if theres any other tranferring info i might want to know ,can you tell me about that aswell.

Thanks
Aimee

There are 2 issues here: hosting and domain.

Hosting and your domain registration are separate, though it's possible that you are going through the same company for both. Even if you are, they will have to be dealt with separately. If you'd like, Surpass can handle both for you also.

To transfer a domain, assuming you are listed as the owner or administrative contact, is pretty simple. You need to make sure that the "Registrar Lock" (or some similar sounding name) is off. That is supposed to keep the domain from being moved, and that is what you are trying to do. Then, go to where you want to transfer the domain to (surpassdomains in this case), and request the transfer. You will receive an email at the email address listed in the domain information, asking for your approval. Give your approval (typically by clicking a link in the email), and sit back and let it happen. A domain transfer usually takes about a week, more or less.

The cost? An additional year. You pay for a year of the domain, and they will transfer it and add on a year to the expiration date. There are no other fees, and yes, when it comes due for renewal, you will pay them.

The cost of the domain transfer/registration is completely separate from hosting.

I think I pretty much covered it above, but if you have any other questions, let us know.

Failure is not an option. It comes standard with all Microsoft products.
