A question to see if I really want to be hosted here..

According to this blog post (which I found through a Technorati of "Surpass Hosting"), Movable Type isnt allowed on Surpass servers? Is this true, and if it is, why? I use MT for my website and if you dont allow it, you just lost a customer.

Many hosts do not allow MovableType due to its inherenent instability.

That being said, Surpass allows it, but if it becomes a problem then it will be disabled. Use at your own risk.

Well, I've never seen any of my many MT installs ever slow down a server. I'm very experienced with MT (been using it for about 3 years now) and know how to handle it

Surpass has had many instances I've heard of just on the forum of MT causing server problems. As long as you keep up with the updates and maintain it well, you really shouldn't have much of a problem. But it's not a recommended script around here due to the problems people have had.

MT tends to have problems randomly. An old install could work right for years and then without warning go on the fritz... or a new install could cause problems right off. It has nothing to do with the expertise of the user involved.

You can install it, but if it causes any problems, it will be disabled. As that blog did say, Wordpress is typically a better alternative.

You may want to read this announcement.

From what I've seen of MT when it causes a problem it's totally unpredictable - and the fact that 6A can't seem to figure out what causes the issues that spring up tells me that it's far more unstable than most people think. But that's my opinion and solely that.
