How do i use .co.uk domians on Surpass
I started the thread, Can i transfer .co.uk domains? and now im registered.
From technical surpport they confirm that i can use .co.uk domains, but that surpass doesnt surpport them in someway, so they cant be transfered to surpass? Im new to this, i currently have my doamian with 1and1, and i cant transfer them without a TAG, and as surpass doesnt handle .co.uk they dont have a TAG, how do i set things up so that i have .co.uk domains in surpass (ive not yet joined) without them actually being in surpass? Please help! ![]() Regards tj |

Move the domain from 1and1 to LowCostNames - lcn.biz - as the register for free. Then host with no problem on Surpass.

I may be mistaken but since 1&1 is a registrar you should be able to manage your domain name there and still have a hosting account with Surpass. Transferring the domain name shouldn't be necessary.
1&1 should have a login/control panel in which you can set your domain name servers to point to Surpass once you get a Surpass account set up. Explore your control panel at 1&1 and see what is there. |

Name server 1&1 name server IP Address (A-Record) 1&1 IP Mail Server (MX Record) 1&1 mail server thanks Last edited by tjpeople; October 12th, 2005 at 5:02 PM. |

Log into your account with 1&1 and find where you set the Name Servers.
When you open your Surpass account you will receive an email that states what the name servers are for your Surpass account. It may be something like ns800.dizinc.com and ns801.dizinc.com. They will send two of them. Just enter those numbers in the name server setting in your 1&1 account control panel. In a day or two your domain will start going to your page on Surpass when you enter it in your browser. |

ttorion is right, you don't NEED to move the registrar. I suggested it because I'd used them and knew they would allow a .co.uk to be hosted bya US host. If 1and1 have nameserver or IP address details for the domain name in their control panel, it's simply a matter of changing these details to those given by Surpass when you sign up for a hosting account and then waiting anything upto 48 hours for the info to propogate. I don't have any accounts with 1and1, so I can't say anything more about what's involved with them. ttorion?

I think when you pay through PayPal it sets up a subscription to automatically charge for your next payment, whether it is monthly or yearly. PayPal is set up where you can have it linked to your bank account as well as having a credit card for a secondary funding source. If you don't already have a secondary funding source set up that may be why it is asking for a credit card. It may be required for a subscription type payment.
When all else fails though you can always email the sales department! |
