I am thinking of purchasing either the P4 2.4GHz single drived entry level or enterprise level servers...
My questions are as follows:

For $15, the extra space and memory look like a good deal. I never noticed the difference until just now, but it looks like a good deal. Everything else is the same though. Personally though, I'd look more into using the extra cash for the backup drive option, rather than the extra memory and hard drive space. This way, if something does happen, you'll have the data backed up.
You can always buy addons later on down the road. |

Thanks for the speedy reply David
![]() I'm not so worried at this time about a backup drive - If within the next few weeks I go for it I'll put money aside to buy a one-time setup of a second drive for backups ![]() I'm just wondering if I can justify paying $150 setup, and then $125 for a backup drive and $150 for 512mb of memory for a $120 a month server, or $150 setup, $125 for a backup drive and $135 a month... Figure wise, $275 setup and the $15 extra per month means that after 10 months they become equal - However after those 10 months it will cost me more - However intially the $150 extra setup for memory will hit me harder, and for 10 months I'll be clawing back... It's just a question of whether after purchasing, I can buy the "one-time fee" upgrades or not If not, I'll go with the cheaper setup option ![]() Chris |

Looking at all the money figures has just made my bank account depressed lol
The server you get, as well as it's options are always dependant on what you plan to do with it. But it looks like you've got things planned out pretty well, or atleast have a game plan. Heh, mine was an impulse buy lol |

My ultimate goal is to enable myself to buy a cheap enough server for just me - Initially I need a server powerful enough to do some projects
![]() But as far as money goes, I can justify the $150 setup for reduced monthly fees - I can also justify the $30 a month for CPanel/WHM - What I have to calculate is the rest of the money... If anyone can inform me of what the status is of after-sales fees such as memory or hard drive upgrades, I would be most grateful ![]() Chris |

To get the best results and most information about sales, contact sales is the best option.
http://desk.surpasshosting.com <- You can use the help desk to contact sales. They should be able to answer any and all questions you have. So, if someone doesn't happen along soon with the information, Sales should be able to help. ![]() I dig the idea of wanting to be able to fund your own server. That's a great idea. I'd love to do the same, but right now I'm basically funding my own. |
