How long to setup?

Ok - few more questions (I'm bluestrike2).

I just signed up a little more than an hour ago. How long does it take to get setup? Also, I have two domains and need a third. Will it cost me extra to put them on my account (it supports it).

Accounts are setup everyday, but on the weekends they take longer due to limited staff. Also, since this is a holiday that compounds the time as well, so if it's not setup by the end of today, than it should be up tomorrow. This is all done due to spammers and fraud accounts who like to go after autosignups...sucks, but it's necessary these days.

You can always just forward your domains, but that's not always as clean looking. If your account will accept enough addon domains or parked domains, than you won't encure any additional costs to add them to your account (of course, you'll still have to buy the domains, but adding them to your account will not cost you anything if you have the options available).

So since I already have domains, if I change the nameservers I won't have to pay anything, correct? Do I have to add them to the account manager or cPanel somehow? Thanks!

No extra charge but yes you'll have to add them to your account in Cpanel under addon domains, or parked domains, which ever you decide they should be (and whichever your plan will allow). The nameservers will direct it to that server, and since you have them setup in your cpanel account, it will know where on the server to point your domains.

Awesome - thanks David!

Question - with the 'pro' shared (plan on moving to a dedicated once I get some more financial security for the three websites) what is the difference between an 'addon domain' or a 'parked domain?'

Thanks!

A parked domain can act as your normal domain. If you have something.com and park something.net, you can access that site with something.net as if you typed in the .com version instead. For an addon domain, I believe the domain just points to a different folder. I don't deal with them a lot because I have my own Dedi, and end up just making new accounts in the event I have something I need to park or addon.

David,

I'd assume that my add-on domains (which is what I'll be getting since the 'pro' account does not support parked) and my normal domains will be able to be transferred over when we go dedicated in about 3 months, correct?

Sure. Everything in your account can and will be transfered over to the dedi once you get it. When I went from pass5 to my dedicated, Support moved it all for me. It's like you haven't even moved.

Well then I can't wait. Until then I'm sure to be reading up on dedicated servers .

So I guess that a dedicated really is worth it all, eh? (3 domains at this time with 2 more that might be transferred over once I get a dedicated - of which the one will be a bandwidth hog once its fully up - which won't be a problem for neighbors since I won't have any )

Do the dedicated servers change in how I manage them much? Thanks!
