Questions Regarding Anime

Hi, I have a site (www.deimonhigh.com). It's currently suspended as you can see, don't know why as we've been hosted for more than half a year already. I think it may be because we've expanded and traffic has increased. We currently get around 1000 uniques daily and our forums are quite active, around 100 posts daily.

I was recommended here by the boards at daydreamgraphics.com. I have a few questions regarding the hosting before ordering. Okay, the site is an anime fansite based on the series "Eyeshield21." Don't worry, NO anime files will be hosted, what I mean is, manga, music files, and episodes will not be hosted on the site, but rather links to them. I know how the take up a lot of bandwidth, so I've decided to just host them on file hosts instead and link to them from the site. Is that okay? Well, maybe I might host the latest chapters released by a friend of my that scanlates the manga, but that's just a thought. So what I'm getting at is, will surpass hosting be able to host this type of site? My old host only had 700MB space and 25GB bandwidth, and I'm guessing that we ran out of bandwidth which is why it got suspended. Also the host's speed wasn't that great, so these reasons led me to think of moving to a new host.

Once more, will surpasshosting host such a site?

Regards,

The only problem I would see is that if they are copywriten and you don't have permissions to share them, you're still doing that on your site even if it's not actually hosting them itself. It's sort of like torrent sites. They don't host the file, but link to it in a way. Basically, if a complaint is made about it, you can get in trouble for it. So, I'm not really sure what to say about it.

As for the site itself, I would suggest looking at VPS, though I don't think you really need it now.

I see your point. But I've been doing this for a little more than 6 months and have received no complaints. I hope it'll stay like that though.

VPS? A server you mean? Yeah, I don't think I'll need one since we're not hosting the media itself.

VPS isn't a whole server, but more like a shared server with private server abilities. It will give you more room. But like I said, I don't think you'll need it now but given that type of site growth, it may be something you'll want to consider if the resources used are too much for shared.

Oh I see. Yeah lol, I don't really need much room. The most I'll probably take up is 1GB or so.

Well, space isn't the only issue. You said that you think your site was suspended due to traffic increase and expansion. This means that your site is using more server resources. To me it doesn't sound like your site would cause any kind of problem here on a shared server, but if it gets much bigger you may want to look towards VPS as an option.

What forum software do you use?

Yeah, that's true. Maybe if we expand much more later, we'll think about moving to a VPS. Thanks.

Just bought a plan, I hope everything works out and I don't encounter any problems with anime. I hope to stay with surpasshosting forever. =)
