Hay if you keep the Dedi and want to do some kind of VPS setup you might check this out also. Open source! http://openvz.org since Virtuozzo is a bit pricey.

You know Bigjohn I now recall seeing that but had forgotten. Thanks for the reminder.

I may have to load a copy on my WinXP Pro then and see just how it looks.

So it is good secure (enough) software? Good to know Still considering VPS... it is just hard when I received such a great deal for such a great server... to let that go... especially over 3 months of bonding/raising :P

VMWare Server is a great product. I never thought of it for VPS purposes though. But I guess that's because at work we just use it for testing beta software releases like IE7 and Office 2007.

VPS runned 97% flawless to me.. but I don't have really load on it.. (maybe 20 visitors daily). However there were few days that for no apparent reason my server reched limit of two resources and sites stop working (it was happenig repeatedly during like two days). I didn't do anything on server so it's total mistery to me why was that and support wasn't helpfull in that case (they told me to restart server after I did it few hours earlier ).
It made me anxious about VPS. Due to open of new site I'm expecting more load in next months.. if it would be problematic I'll probably move to other host.

vmware server is probably the best out there, not to dis virtuozo... Our friend John (where is he lately??) pointed out a few things to me... so, you can run YOUR stuff in the host, but probably easier to set up the host OS (if your server does 64bit, you can run a 64 bit linux) then partition it off. The virtual machines can be ANY os that will run on the hardware...

Good tips there. I've decided to downgrade to VPS 1, and work my way up. i want a VPS for the power. I've heard of some issues, but I feel I can control it enough to make those issues (hopefully) disappear, as I'm not a complete newbie. Really, I like the control; How I'm not 95% dependent on support, and just 35%-45% (or lower?).

I'll miss my server, but I feel the time and effort needed in hosting others or finding VPS partners on my server is not possible at this time (since I'm going ot go into schooling and I have a real life job as well).

I just hope they do another server sale next year As I will be ready then (and I love the deals :O the reason it is so hard to leave dedicated ). But I'll consider using that VPS software for when I decide to get a server again, as it is great for more management.
