Well when you get to VPS and find a mystery resource hog and how to hog tie it let me know.

Now there are the normal hogs mailman and YUM but they are trackable, but when the server load is above 6 and CPU at 100% and there is no trace of anything causing it when you look at TOP it can drive you a bit batty and Support can find it either.

Besides that VPS is awesome.

Why not try making a script that runs periodically that checks the server load. If the server load is at a certain amount, then log what processes are running...? Sometimes there are some strange things running that don't get displayed on the window (or at least that's what happened on Cobind)

Well Twirp I'm not a script writer. I can do some very basic stuff and that is about it. Enough to hack or tweak an existing script some. But a cool idea.

Possible, I'll still be checking to see who. It could be the software (Virtuozzo) itself!

I know about the two you mentioned, one being the email server and the other OS updates executes.

About scripting, I'm not yet a scripter of server-side applications, especially not for system-type checkings. but I'd assume it would deal with a looping php function and with a cron job excuting. But, really, such a thing could create the load itself... or whatever causes the load might slow down such a process, or even crash my VPS. So, I'll try something in the lines of a SSH.

Either way, I'll get it. I like the challenge too heh.

I just hope my patients holds out for it is wearing very thin with getting something done with my VPS.

maybe you can get yours and see something if you get this mystery resource use stuff and then can tell me what to tell support.

I feel like a yo-yo with my feelings about it at this moment. Keep it and help find the issue or just drop in in the toilet with all the other crap, flush and walk away.

It is driving me nuts.
