Glad I could help you out. I, too, hope others find this useful. I've used it over the years on various dedicated servers that I run. Since I would be running popular services to try and hack/exploit (mainly IRC-related hosting) I found it best to block certain countries from accessing my servers at all. Most of the IPs I posted earlier were converted from iptables rules.

Enjoy!

Important typo should be clarified.
order allow, deny ---> no space. Keywords may only be separated by a comma; no whitespace is allowed between them.

Edited!

Thanks for pointing that out. Was probably a result of my wrists/fingers/hands hurting from the copying and pasting, and deleting of lines in the text files I provided.

In fact, I just had to edit that last line a few times as my fingers weren't pressing and holding the 'shift' key correctly for capitalization!

Good thread. Some useful info there. I constantly have things trying to shove their ads into my guestbook. None make it in with the validation I do now.. for awhile if I detected a bot, I would respond with a location header back to themselves. Now, I just respond with nothing.

I even have things trying to access non-existant guestbook scripts. dumb bots... anyway I can only really block IP addresses of constant offenders since I get a lot of ligit hits from overseas downloading my midi files.

I do however, blacklist everything from overseas in my email client.. **.??
