[Answered] Need some info on your dedicated servers
I am interested in your dedicated servers. I just need to know a few things:
1. Are your dedicated servers run on 100 mbps connections, or 10 mbps connections? If they are run on 10 mbps connections, are they upgradable to 100 mbps connections? If yes, how much would the monthly fee for that be? 2. Are there any limits to what you can do with the server? As far as limits on databases, software, configurations, SSH access, HTTPD config, that kind of stuff. 3. Are your servers managed, or are they do I have to manage them? 4. Are the operating systems of your non-windows servers Linux Red Hat? 5. Are your servers Dell? If not, what are they? Thanks, Brandon. |

1. I believe they are on 10, but not entirely sure. I know you can get an unmetered bandwidth server on a 10, 25, or 100 connection. If that question isn't answered here, I'd suggest filing a ticket to support and they can give you more information.
2. The whole server is yours. There are no limits that I am aware of, other than what is in the terms of service regarding security (trying to hack into other servers, running certain things on the network). 5. I am not sure if the servers are a brand or not. That would probably be a question for support. From what I have seen in the past, they may just be custom servers, seeing as they keep a lot of hardware on hand for failures and upgrades.

1. He means port speed, which all servers default to 10mbps and is upgradable for less than $100 (can't remember the amount, should be on the dedicated main page).
2. Anything that is safe to the network. For example, IRC is allowed, as everything that applies to service policy, but popular IRCs can be hazardious to the network. Things like SSH, etc are all standard and put to mind, you have complete control to what is on the server you own/lease. So, yes, just about anything you wish, just don't risk the network, which is rarely done ![]() 3. All servers have a 100% managed service at no extra charge. 4. They are Linux, using centOS. Not sureif Red Hat is available, but the default (with some other options) is centOS. 5. I do not think their servers are branded, considering they build the server right as you place the order, hence the setup fee and waiting period of no longer than 24 hours. Dedicated is very fun. I only wish I had the right funding for my "love"... my 1gb ram server I got from that sale that is to die soon Overall, Dedicated is WELL worth it. I loved it and it was my first time on dedicated, back in June 2006. Also, you can request a phone number to call support once you receive the server, which is reserved for dedicated clients only and offering more control ![]()
