Talking [Answered] Shared Hosting

Dear Sir or Madam,

i just want to ask if you allow erotic content and what happens if i use more than the 200 gb of the monthly transfer (power plan) ?
do you charge extra for overusage or do you "lock" the hosting accound that no more costs are created.

Kind regards,
Caroline Johnson

This has come up in question before, and as long as it falls within the TOS I believe it's allowed:

http://www.surpasshosting.com/policies.php

"Content
Surpass Hosting.com, LLC believes in freedom of speech; however, any content (written, visual, or implied) in the following areas will not be tolerated and is grounds for immediate suspension of service (in most cases customer will be allowed a zip file of their account): racism or prejudice due to color, creed, or belief; any violent/malicious/obscene content written, visual or implied. We will not tolerate any type of hate site including terrorist related websites on our network. If we receive notice that there is such a hate site hosted within our network, the customer hosting the material will be notified immediately. They are required to remove the content within a certain timeframe or will face account suspension and/or termination."

As far as exceeding the bandwidth, you should receive an email when you reach 80% of your bandwidth at which time you can contact support to determine how you want to handle the situation. I believe this only applies to accounts on Shared Servers though.

Right. And if you think you'll be using that much bandwidth each month, it might be wiser to buy a reseller, and create one big 'plan' from it. Just a thought.

Thumbs up

hey,
thank you very much for your fast answers!

so, there are no direct restrictions concerning erotic content.

first of all i will get a shared hosting plan to see how things are working and how much traffic i really need.

is ist possible to lock the website when 99% of the included traffic are used ?
because i do not like the idea of paying for "extra-traffic".

Kind regards,
Caroline

PS: Could you please tell me something about the Routing and Speed to Germany and EU ?

The account IS locked when you hit your limit. You will not be charged overage, unless you make prior arrangements.

Routing is great - Have you tried to do a Tracert to this site?

Many customers here are from Europe.

John

Wink

yes, this website has a nice ping

do you keep logfiles ? and would i be able to access these concerning my accound ?
is it possible to stop logging ? i am interested in privacy etc. therefore i just want to know what is possible and what is not.

so maybe i will register an accound soon when i have finished making up my mind about a nice tld

is it right that i can quit the contract every month and do not have to register the plan for 12 months or something like that ?

payment can be made via paypal (without any creditcard information) ?

Kind regards,
Caroline

PS: Why is your service that cheap !? -> 6 $ per month for all these things. very nice.

Caroline -

This is a user to user forum. You may find Surpass staff posting in here, but most of us are customers, just like you.

The fee is very low. You have to be careful not to exceed resource limits. If you do, you'll be asked to move to a more powerful platform.

The bandwidth and storage limits are great, but remember, if you site is too busy, they will ask you to upgrade to a plan that has more resouces available. It is for that reason that I suggested a reseller. A reseller is allowed more resource use than any individual shared plan.

And yes, it's month to month, although with some plans you do get a little discount for annual payment (not sure anymore... I set mine up annual and it's been that way for over 2 years...)
