Dedicated Server

I would like to know what OS comes with the dedicated?

Can i get windows 2003 put on it? If so does it come with SQL?

What about windows VPS? If so what are the costs, features, etc.

Hello,

You can choose from a few (mostly open source) OSs, but the most common (standard) and recommended is CentOS. This is on linux systems, which is the default of all servers listed.

You can have Windows on a dedicated and/or VPS for $30/month per install. This is due to the extensive licensing fees that costs Surpass.

Anything else you need help with?

I'm pretty sure you can also send them your copy of whatever other OS you want installed, and they'll put it on there for you.

That sounds great. What about SQL databases on Server 2003?

Can i "rent" that like I would the OS, or is that something I'd have to buy and manually put it on the server?

I'm not sure about the SQL, doesn't that come with the Windows Server OS?

You can have anything you wish on the server, as long as it does not violate the TOS of Surpass that is This freedom is the true charm of dedicated.

Do you need specifically MS SQL? You can put MySQL (which is free) on either a Windows server or a Linux Server:

Is there anything preventing you from using SQL Server 2005 Express? It's free.
