Looking for hosting, I think

I live in Maine and it was just announced that if the FCC approves it Verizon will be selling off all it's lines to Fairpoint Communications. I was reading a little about them and their services are expensive and limited.
I am thinking of setting up a domain for e-mail before all this change takes place so that the move will hopefully be smoother for us. The things I want to be able to do are:

1. e-mail accounts for 4 people plus a handful of throw aways for spam and be able to forward seamlessly to my new ISP so I can use either Eudora (our current e-mail program) or Thunderbird. IMAP would be great if available since we have multiple computers.

2. Do you allow + addressing like name+somethingmydomain.com

3. Move a blog from wordpress.com to my own domain, hopefully without loosing or having to rebuild it all.

4. As the kids get older let them play and build web sites

Is there other things that I should ask about? Been online since 1993 and Prodigy service but never looked at setting up a domain before.

thanks,
matt

1. Yes, you can do that.
2. Yes.
3. That's dependant on Wordpress.com... I don't know if they let you do any form of export.
4. Of course

I'm not sure... If you think of anything you're not sure about, just ask

Thanks H,
I did think of another one. Digital photos. I can use Gallery or something like that right?
Also, is there a place to demo cPanel? I thought there was a while ago when I looked around but cannot find it.

H, thanks for helping out.

The Wordpress.com question is interesting, I have been Googling for a while now trying to digg up info on that.

We have Fantastico which has immediate installs of programs like Gallery, but there are many you can install yourself as well that only take a few minutes. I love Zen Photo:

Yep. CPanel has a couple gallery scripts included, plus you're welcome to use any other you'd like.

You can find the official CPanel demo here: http://www.cpanel.net/products/cPane...try_cp_whm.htm
