Transfer domain or change nameservers?
Hey,
I want to buy shared hosting at Surpass and I have just registered a domain with a different host. I was wondering what the difference is between transferring the domain and changing the nameservers? Will it cost extra money to transfer? - Tina |

changing nameservers means: changing where the domain name points to.
transfering a domain means: transfering the company that represents your domain name. The company that represents your domain name also enables you to change the nameservers... Costs: It depends on where your domain name is registered now... sometimes they charge you money and sometimes they don't. That will be something that you will have to inquire with them about and/or give us the name of the registrar and we might know off hand.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I registered my domain with xfluro.com. But if I just change my nameservers, will the files I upload still be directed to eg. www.mydomain.com/folder/index.php? And will I be able to make subdomains? |

If you change your nameservers to surpass's servers then your files will be there only if you have uploaded them to surpass's server.
If your files are hosted with another host then you will still need to move over your files/databases etc. Yes, you will be able to make subdomains through cPanel.
