I'd like to clarify this more since you seem to be mistaking a VPS for a Dedicated (aka, them being the same).

Virtually Private Server (VPS)
Has similar freedoms to a Dedicated server, such as a WHM/cPanel, Root Access, Guarenteed Resource limits, Custom Software (such as chat clients) Installation Allowance, and other goodies that would be possible on your computer, on your VPS.

Dedicated Server
You get the same as a VPS's specifications, however, you also get (which is not on a VPS) the following:

+ the Best Uptime Service
+ Complete Freedom, no clustering of many accounts on one machine.
+ (most important) Upgradable Memory, Harddrive Storage, and Bandwidth.
+ More customizable freedoms as well.

The best part, to me, is the upgrading and pride factor of a server, that it is not virtual, but physical. To put it simply, VPSs are a taste of a Dedicated, at a affordable price. VPSs are also the closest you'll ever get to a Dedicated server, except for an actual server of course

I hope that helps you!

It does help very much..

I am hosting local small businesses in my area, and I am currently on someone elses dedicated p3 machine :-( I want to move to a surpass dedicated solution.. Here is my situation.

I have around $1800 for a year of dedicated hosting, that I want to invest. However I am using cpanel/whm and whmcs (www.whmcs.com). I have around 10 clients on my server and in my WHMCS database. If I went ahead and signed up for the $190 a month dual xeon server, would Surpass be able to move my site, current clients, and whmcs database over to the new server. I have NO IDEA how to move this, and I do not want to cause excessive down time for my clients.

If anyone know for sure what the answer is(really would like surpass chime in) please let me know and I will sign up dedicated within the next 48 hours.

Thanks
