Moving hosts.

Hi there. I'm sure you get asked this a lot, but if you'd please indulge me it 'd be appreciated

We're wanting to move to Surpass, and I understand that as long as our current host uses cPanel (which it does) you can move the site for us.

Can you tell me how long this process would take once we've signed up? Will we experience much downtime on the site? And do we need to export the SQL databases and import them at Surpass, or is that all part of the migration process?

Also, will the current site be deleted from the old host when it moves to Surpass, or will you actually be making a duplicate of the site? I'm wondering this so we'll know whether to expect any downtime as the DNS changes propogate.

Thanks for any info you can provide about moving sites.

I can answer some of those!

It's an easy process to move to a new host when both use cpanel. It's just a matter of taking a complete back-up through cpanel and restoring it on the new host. This doesn't delete any of the files and it will take all of the databases over with it.

As for how long it will take, a staff member will have to answer that one! Though, it's the DNS propagation that will take the longest rather than the move itself :]
