noob questions about making a site to host on surpass

hello

sorry if this is in the wrong section and/or obvious questions.... im a total noob with this kind of thing! ( ive never had a proper website before )

i plan to make a relatively basic website with a few pages - 1 with images, 1 with videos, 1 with text about me, 1 with links.

1) does my website need to be in a particular format/language - ie can i use any software to make it?

* edited to add* can i use Wordpress?

2) im assuming the "shared hosting" package is the one to go for ? ( i dont expect high bandwidth use at all - far less than the bandwidth stated on that package and its not going to be a shop or anything like that.... just a personal site )

thanks.

Yes, you can use Wordpress. Many people here are using WordPress. Even our Kayla uses Wordpress for her blog. To install it, you only have to go through Cpanel, and with a few mouseclicks, voilla, you will have a weblog

Regarding your other question, as far as I know your site should either be HTML or PHP, not sure if ASP is working.

Also I believe that with the cheapest package you will have enough space to create your personal website. Word of warning though, making websites can be enslaving.

You'll need a Microsoft server to run .asp files. To my knowledge, Surpass uses Linux servers.
