Big website
Hi,
There's been a client (still in early stages) who approached me to make a BIG website. practically it's about Online betting + Live Streaming (does Surpass support live streaming first of all?) what would you suggest as the best plan for this? As you may think, it will have lots of hits + bandwith for sure. I don't have budgets for now so fire any ideas you have ![]() |

For lots of hits + bandwidth I'd say a dedicated server would be your best bet, the freedom of having one is almost endless, do what you want, expect illegal activity of course, a big advantage of a dedi is its all yours and no one else on it, just your site(s).

Yes, if you (or your client) is going to be using the website for any serious business, a dedicated server is the best way to go. There is no chance that other users on the server can abuse the server and cause downtime for you, plus if you have a big website you aren't causing problems for other people. With a dedicated server anything is possible to be installed as well.

This kind of site definitely needs a dedicated server.

Does your client have the software created or having created in order to run such a site? there may be backend components needed that arent offered even in a linux environment. A site for gambling may need something like Flash Media Server 2 (very pricy)and although it can work in a linux environment i am told it is best in a windows one.
Also, i am not sure of the legalities for location of a server hosting such activity . i know it is illegal to offer gambling to US citizens now. Whether a server is allowed in the US to offer services to non US citizens i am not sure of
