Yes, the time of sent is made with the time of your local machine but the time of recieve is made with the server hour. I don't worry the question of time in scripts (I think I can control this) but the time of the emails is very important. I would like to know what do the people who have a reseller plan and are in a distinct time zone. What do you do with your clients to have the correct time (suppose that your clients are from your own country and don't have distinct zone times)?

Sorry if I ask a lot with the same theme, but this is a very important question. I love surpasshosting and I want to host with them but this is (time) a biggggggg problem. I know that getting a dedicated serve would solve the problem but that's an expensive solution for me.

Thanks a lot for th help

Nobody can help me?
Please, it's very important. I can't contract a reseller plan if the emails' timezone of the accounts will be in orlando's timezone. What do you (resellers) do with the problem of time servers? What do you say to your clients?

Thank you very much.

I don't do anything about it really.. If they ask i say, the server is located in Orlando.. Your e-mail client will probably timestamp it anyway.. So no worries.. Why is this so important to you?

because I would like to be the most professional that I can. Well, I know that it's more important the quality of the service (and Surpass service is excellent as I see) so they are my first choice.
Anyway I ask this in Cpanel forum and have no official response so I am waiting for a kind of solution (that surely will be well recieve for all users if I get it).

I would like to know from surpass support if they could ask to cpanel to make a kind of script that control this issue. I would be a great help for all of we (think so).

Thanks for your help (that's what I love surpass, members and support help :maitre: )

the problem is that the timestamp is system time, and that time affects all sites on the server.

Your email programs will use YOUR timezone. This can even be set in the timezone for most webmail programs.

Also, if you install, for example, a 'helpdesk script' you can edit that to utilize your timezone.

Thanks bigjohn. The problem is that I (and almost all my clients) use Outlook Express and TimeZone can't be configured in this program.

About your solution of install 'helpdesk script' I don't know (or understand) what you say, but thanks anyway.

In Cpanel Forums people are "worried" about the same problem and one user said that this could be a future feature in cpanel. My question is:
Could you (surpass support) advice to cpanel to try to include this feature in a future version of WHM? I think that a hosting company like you could be eared (did I tell that ok?) with more guarantees than a simple user :anxious:

Thanks and see you soon.

It's like bigjohn said. It's an integral part of all systems on the server, including the email server. I personally don't know of any servers that have a customizable timestamp option on the email servers. The whole reason to use the servers system time is to help track items. Also, if the email server has to lookup the time settings for each individual user before adding a header, that could create a potentially huge load.

Haven't you ever looked at the headers of an email message sent across the world. You will notice that each server uses its own localtime to stamp the emails with. It really shouldn't be done any other way.

Bigjohn pretty much nailed it. Your email client is supposed to be using the local time for you when it receives the message. All the timestamps placed in the headers by various servers shouldn't be considered valid for the receive time, since it could be hours after the server received it before you checked your email.

Your english is much better than my spanish... I think you wanted to say "I think that a hosting company like you would be listened to more than a simple user."

Outlook express does not allow modification of timezone in the software because it timestamps based on the system time of the computer that it is running on.

So if your timezone is set to GMT +1, all of your email will be seen by users as such.

If you use the web-mail programs (horde) I believe you can set your local timezone there, and then the messages you send are correctly stamped.

Surpass has a free 'helpdesk' script in the scripta library. This script will allow you to have a web-based ticket system for your users. It will also utilize the time-zone that you specify.
