A question for foreign users

Hello, here I am again with another question for not USA users of surpass (because I suppose they have the same "problem" than me):

How do you manage with the hour in your web applications? I mean, the hour of the server is GMT -6 (isn't it?) and the hour of Spain is GMT +1, so what do you do with hour in your applications, data bases...? Do you control it directly or is there an option to change the GMT hour for your accounts?

Well, that's all for the moment.

P.S.: I'm sure I'm going to order with you (I love your hosting and community) but now I'm hosting in other company and have a few days of hosting period still.
In a few days I will be a SURPASSERRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I'm not a foreign user, I'm actually in the same time zone as the datacenter, but here is a possible answer to your problem.

Create a timestamp, using PHP's mktime(). Make sure that for the hour parameter, you add 6 hours to make up for the difference in time zones. (The datacenter is -5 GMT.)

Note: The times show as the output are from when I ran the script.

PHP Code:
<?php

$timestamp_florida
mktime(date("H"), date("i"), date("s"), date("m"), date("d"), date("y"));
$timestamp_spain mktime((date("H")+6), date("i"), date("s"), date("m"), date("d"), date("y"));

echo
date("F j, Y, g:i a"$timestamp_florida); // April 20, 2004, 9:44 pm
echo "<br><br>";
echo
date("F j, Y, g:i a"$timestamp_spain); // April 21, 2004, 3:44 am

?>

SmartGuy gave you a technical version, I am going to give you a real world version.

Any script that tracks times should track it by the servers time. It should then adjust the outputted display to compensate for the time difference. Most major scripts already do this.

The only other possibility would be to have the script make adjustments to the time when it was posted, but since this internet thing is worldwide, it is best to let the end user chose the timezone they want to see (via the scripts settings).

Here I am again. I don't have an account because maybe I will register a reseller plan. My question is: could I change the hour in whm to all my users to spanish time zone?
I know with the help that gave me SmartGuy (timestamp) everything will go ok but my future users shouldn't know what is php and this solutions won't be ok for them.

That's all. I hear you :suri:

That will be the mail server timestamp, but your email program also adds YOUR time to the header.
