Hello ,

I was transferring a domain name that I own to upload a website and when I put in my user name and password it was going to charge me $16 to transfer my personal name.

I have the abilty to transfer my Domain name simply by entering in an IP or named address where I bought my name from.

Why is it charging me?

Thanks.

Steve

Transferring your domain means actually transferring your domain name into _our_ domain system. The charge is for adding a year to your current expiration date.
We can't just transfer your domain to our domain system at surpassdomains.com for free, so that is why there is a charge for $15.99

We assume that if you want to transfer your domain to a better control panel system, that you are probably in it for the long haul. So why not pay for another year of registration in order to use our system and keep your domain and hosting accounts all in the same place.

If you just want to change your DNS so that your site will _work_ on our server, you can do that free of charge with whatever company the domain name is registered with currently. There is no need to go to surpassdomains.com and click Transfer. That is just if you want to switch domain name companies and bring your domain name to our system.

Where do I find the IP address to map to my account that I set up?

Once you receive your email from surpass, there should be two urls and two ip addresses that you would input at your old registrar. Use whatever is required by your registrar.

I would not mind adding the extra year since it expires in 01/04 but the guy who owns it is a member of the organization and the org wants to prurchase it from him so they own it not him!

If we like the way this site works (which we think we will) then yes we will be in it for the long haul !

This would be the welcome email your account has been setup? If so then whhere in the email to I put in the DNS into my routing from where I registered it?

Your account activation email has a section called DNS.
The nameservers are specified right there.

If you are setup using sykogaming.com with Surpass and someone else buys (registers) sykogaming.com, then you are SOL.

Hurry up and buy it.
