I'm proud of you Unleashed. Several years ago, I decided that right is right and almost right is wrong. I deleated several thousand dollars of almost kinda sorta legal programs. Had to replace them with cheaper (and quite often better) programs, but I sure felt better about it.

For those that think that it's okay to bootleg software, wait until you see your website with someone elses name on it. I have and it is not fun. :grrr:

so true bassdaddy. if something is happening that isn't supposed to, they kick off your site. if you were in the U.S., you could have some legal issues as well.

I did a little bit of checking by the way. Chile has laws against copyright infringement. I didn't have to do much checking really, mainly because it's international law. It doesn't matter if you're in Chine, USA, Chile, or Kenya, copyright infringement is against the law and can cause legal issues. So you may want to pay a little more attention to what you do.

Using kazaa... I have used it to find a video of a speech bush made once. I installed it, ran it, found the video, then got rid of it. That video was completely legal, so I had no problems.

Also, I don't believe it's getting out of hand. I believe that everyone is taking it as it should be. a serious matter.

about the laws

yeah , thats true, Chile has laws to protect the coprights.. But no for internet, in Chile never has been a trial for any internet violation,, its more, a year ago a kid hack an enterprise and nothing happen., because the enterprise demand the boy for intrusion, but how i say, all the laws in Chile are not aplicable for internet violations....

I live here, i am shure of what i say, well eventually the congres is going to aprove some law., but not yet... :shakehead

Just thought I'd clarify that.

that depends on the contents of the file. it's not quite accurate to say that you can download whatever you want and that's just fine from a legal standpoint.

the FBI have and will continue to prosecute anyone for posession of pornographic digital images that involve children for instance, or any files that are used in the commision of electronic based fraud.

the bottom line - if you host content that is illegal we can suspend the account.

so please, keep things clean.

Well, let me clarify what I said. you're right though sam, it's not always true.

You can download things without it being illegal unless that file itself is illegal to posses. Child pornography is illegal across the board, and downloading some programs are illegal for certain people to own. there are a few programs that you can only have on your computer with the proper liscenses, then still others that civillians can't own.

so there are things that you can't have on your computer, thusly you can't download them. besides, pornography is just sick anyway.
