Hello:

Can I host torrent files ? Not a BT-Tracker, only host torrent files for downloading them.

Thanks

I would think this is a big no - this is a direct link to illegal downloads.

:no!:

Exactly. No WAREZ of any kind may be posted/hosted at surpass.

Maybe he is not interested in Warez (that was in the TOS). He might be talking about an episode from a tv show for all we know.

I guess I am curious if these types would be allowed?

episode from a TV show is also copyright material that I seriously doubt he has rights to redistribute openly on the internet....

That's what I mean. Hosting a torrent file could be your homework for all surpass knows. And hosting the TOS for Adobe Photoshop CS 8 doesn't mean that you are having illegal activity.

Hmm, best contact supportsurpasshosting.com for this one.

bit-torrent is illegal for the most part. 99% of the files out there being used by bit-torrent are illegal, and therefor it would just be a good idea to stay away from them to stay out of trouble.

The only difference between a shared hosting server and a dedicated server is that on the dedi you're not sharing a server. that's the only difference... well, you also have to pay more for the server and to get cPanel (or whatever you want). You are still under surpass, and they do not allow for illegal activities. In fact, I believe they had a run-in once before because of a client and an entire server was shutdown for a while. Correct me if I'm wrong on that one please.

anyway, I would have to say that you can host bit-torrent, though it wouldn't be a good idea. they look bad for you and for your host (in this case surpass). If they are illegal, there are serious penalties in store as well.

As long as you are sure it is not illegal I'm sure it would be fine. I download an Anime series from www.gotwoot.net called Naruto and it has not been licensed in the United States yet so it is not illegal to download it. It uses Torrents. But I agree most Torrents on the web are very illegal. Be careful whatever you do.
