sorry, this might sound stupid since I don't know anything about reselling, but I was just wondering... why would you say they have 60gb and give them 30gb? isn't that false advertising or something, or is there a reason for that?

ok, number one what overselling?
number two, if you say that you sell them 60 and give them 30 you can sell more account, its not false advertising, because if they reach say 25G you give them 10 more... if the reach 60G thats it for them, they cant have more for the month without paying you... this is good if you resell to people that their site isnt doing very well... |

i think this is overselling:
you buy 100GB (i love round #'s). then you offer plans with 20GB each. however, how many people actually use all this? for a month, sell what you can actually hold based on your plans. so, a user is only using 0.5GB of his BW, another is using 2.5GB, and a third is using 3.5GB. HEY! WAIT! if i were to make a lil limit where they can use double what they used this month, i still have enough extra BW to make a whole new account! i belive that would be overselling. the inherint risk is that a customer was only developping their site in the month or so you left them alone to see how much they really needed. once they are happy with what they have, they expand, and expand, and oh crap, they just used a whole 18GB bandwidth this month! i just exceded my reseller plan limits weee  |

fine, thats a good idea, if they dont use the bandwith you sell it to someone else, it they start to use it you raise their quota, if theyr site is doing good you raise their qouta to what the signdup for...

yes, but if you have oversold, you cant. to raise one person's, you would have to lower another. you end up trying to juggle it, but you cant do even that forever
