Any antivirus & antispam installed for e-mails?

haiya,

i am doing some research to find the best deal for my near future web-page hosting, (i am a bigginner to web-site developing), i find that Surpass giving a very good deal for money, however there are few thing i need to clarify before going any further with surpass, hope i can find my answers here

1. For share-hosting: the "add-on-domain" means additional domain name on top of the one free domain name provided when registered. Is that means for Deluxe Share Hosting Plan i can have total of 4 domain names for free, is that correct? If correct, within how long i must registere the additional add-on-domain?

2. From provided Scripta, i do not see any phpBB forum in it, Can i install one by myself? The reason, currently i am running phpBB forum on my ISP provided web-space and i am quite confortable with phpBB and if possible do not want to spent time to learn another Forum software.

3. Is there any e-mail antivirus and anti-spam softwware install on the server. If not what are the options available for me to protect from virus/spam at server level. The reason: my community members are not computer literate at all, thus i prefer save e-mail for thier PC.

4. I notice there isn't any additional fee for upgrading, how about down-grading, just incase i doesn't need the required space or the bandwidth as forecasted.

5. For Reseller Plan: I am quite tempting to take-up the Bronze Plan, since i am planning to give my community members a free website for them to host. my question is: is the provided free web space limited to host for re-selling purpose or can be anything (legal of-course) that i want to ? Do i REALLY get another free 100GB bandwith for Bronze?

6. Upgrading from Share Hosting Power to Reseller Plan Bronze is allowed?

7. When i provide free web space for my members, is there anyway i can monitor my members from abusing the web-space, eg: uploading illigal or copyright material. I do not want to get into trouble for thier mis-use.

8. For the payment wise: can i ask my friend to pay using his credit card but registed to my name, since i do not own a credit card. If not what suggestion you have, others then pay-pal, since paypal need credit card to tranfer money in to my account as well.

9. Technically is there any diffrent of buying domain name from other reseller and host the site with surpass. Cos' i found a site that selling for $5.50 a year. Will there be any hidden additional charge for intergrating the domain name and web-site hosting?

10. Last question for now is there any hidden charge that i must aware off, please answer this question honestly.

Thank you in advance

This is the place to come for answers.

Not correct. You have to pay for the domain names at any domain register and then you can add them on to that plan. So the main domain is the main domain and any addon domain points to the main domain like a subdomain. So basically you have one cPanel and the main account domain. You can at any time add a add-on domain and it will just create a folder like maindomain.com/addondomain. But you can still type addondomain.com in the address bar and it will go to that site so it doesn't look like it is part of your main site. Hopefully you understand that if not just ask again.

phpBB is most definitely there. I use it a lot as do many others here.

We have a thing called Spam Assassin for email that works very well. There is a thread here in the Email Forum that tells how to configure it through cPanel and it works very well.

No additional fee. You just notify Surpass and they will downgrade your account and apply any pro-rated refunds you may deserve.

Okay your main site gets the free plan of 5000mb space and 10gb Bandwidth. That cannot be shared through the reseller plan, that is just for your site. Then you get the Bronze plan stuff of 7gb space and 75 gb Bandwidth to resale. So with the reseller space you can split that up however you like.

Yes it is allowed you just have to ask Surpass and they will make the necessary changes and bill you accordingly.

I am not quite sure how much you can monitor. Someone else should answer that that knows more.

Once again I am not exactly positive. You may want to email salessurpasshosting.com and ask them about this. Or someone else here may know also.

This is just fine as long as that register will allow you to add or change the DNS, Domain Name Servers, that would point the domain at Surpass as the host. Surpass would supply you with the DNS.

Well Beldin answered all those nicely but for number 8. I think that is alright because my dad used his credit card before for signing up since I'm only 15 and don't have one. Although I think I'm paying with my paypal account now. I'm not sure. Anyway... I'm like 99% sure. You might want to contact sales to be 100% sure though.

For space usage to a specific directory, you would log into your cPanel and go to "Disk Usage". From there, you'll be able to see the total amount of disk space usage that each directory takes up (which will essentially be FTP accounts from the people you host). As for checking for illegal or copyrighted content, there is no automatic way to check that...you would have to physically log in to their FTP account or log on to their website and review their content accordingly; this is the same for all hosts, unfortunately.

8. For the payment wise: can i ask my friend to pay using his credit card but registed to my name, since i do not own a credit card. If not what suggestion you have, others then pay-pal, since paypal need credit card to tranfer money in to my account as well.

Yes, that is definitely possible. Choose "2Checkout" when filling in the order form. When you get to Step Two, which is the "Client Information", simply input your name, address, and e-mail address, but then at the billing stage where it asks for the credit card number, there will be a field to fill in that will ask for the name thats listed on the credit card...thats when you input your friend's name and credit card information.

Good luck. Hope to see you on Surpass soon!

hiya,

it's me again, i am a bit confused with the add-on-domain stuffs.

can someone explain to me what are the additional fee's for the add-on-domain for? eg. Lite & Standard said "fee's apply" ($15.00 one-time) while Deluxe comes with "3" what does that mean? Also do i have to pay any additional fee's for Main domain name beside the fee to purchase the domain name itself.

If i purchase a domain name from others resellers, do i still have to pay any fee to intergrate it to surpass hosting?

thankX to all of you for prompt reply

The Deluxe plans come with 3 free add-on domains but you have to pay for any additional domains.

You do not have to buy the domain name from Surpass but you must pay the fee to integrate into your acccount.

With Lite and Standard you pay a one time fee of $15 for each add-on domain. So if you want 2 it's $30. With Deluxe it's like it says, you get 3 add-on domain so you can add 3 domain other than the main one.

You can purchase the domain with any register as long as they let you change the DNS, Domain Name Servers. These are what point your domain to surpass as the host. There are no fees from surpass to do this other than the fee for the hosting unles of course it is an ad-on domain you have to pay the $15 for.
