Hosting of certain files..

I'm just wondering... does surpass allow things like mpg's and mp3's to be placed on the websites?

I have hosted some on mine and haven't heard a word about it. However, I hosted mine on there so that when i go on a trip i can listen on the net. And only I know where they are at. Meaning they aren't public. Then I delete mine afterwards. I don't think they allow them if you are hosting them for downloading (illegally) or hosting them for people to pay you (also illegal). It just depends what your situation is.

1 - you have to have the rights to have the files. IE you can't post some MPG extracted from a movie without the permission of the copyright holder. Same with MP3 - you can't host them unless you have permission from the copyright holder.

2 - you have to be a good neighbor. IF dozens of people are downloading this stuff from your site constantly, you may be required to upgrade to a semi-dedicated or dedicated server.

if you want to host music videos, you absolutely MUST have permission from the copyright owner - the band or their management company.

I would not recommend having them download any mp3's or mpeg's. I am into Usher Fans sites and RIAA comes in gets us all the time and they make you delete your whole domain and account where it is hosted unless whatever you have you recorded or captured yourself and you have to submit proof! Just wanted to let you know
