Switching Hosting.. Help?

I am looking to switch from my old host to a new surpass account. But how exactly is the process done with transferring all of the info and databases. Also, how do we go about switching the domain? Is there a way we could get help on this?

I read all of the information you give on transferring accounts but I would just like to know a bit more.

SQL databases. Um no we dont use cPanel but from what I see cPanel is 100 times better but they do have a similar feature, I was told to create database backups and site backups then load them onto the new host.

Is this right?

Basically. If you copy the entire contents of your 'www' directory from the old host down to your computer, you can publish it back to Surpass via FTP into the Public_Html directory. Then you can use Cpanel to restore the MySql backups.

What control panel do they use?

The only problem I see is that our main forums's sql database is 125mb. Now in the time it would take to dl that and upload that it would time out and we'd have problems.

Ive heard people have had a lot of trouble before.

Does your current host have PhpMYAdmin?

You can use that to optimize each table - at the bottom of the structure view there may be an option to select "check overhead". Run this, then look at all the tables that have values in the Overhead column. Then you make sure that they are checked in the left column, and run "optimize table" in the dropdown box.

I think that the database will be Zipped when you back it up too.
