confused about process

I'm creating a site for a friend, and as I had a doman before I registered myself, I never had to go through the process here at surpass. He wants the 3GB power shared hosting package, which comes with one domain. Does this mean that the domain is free, or do we have to get it through surpass domains?

Hi.

A domain name will have to be purchased. For ease of use, we recommend http://surpassdomains.com

The "1 domain free" is actually an add-on domain. It allows you to host another domain using your current account. So, you'll have to register one yourself and use it.

It comes with one ADDON domain. ADDON being the key here. Check here : http://webhosting.lilengine.com/web_...g_articles/21/

You will need to get a domain for your friend at either surpassdomains.com or some other registrar, and go from there. Good luck

Ok. It doesn't matter if I register the doman first, right?

Nope. The order of things does not matter, as long as you:

1 - set the name servers to the correct values
2 - wait patiently for the name to propagate around the internet (24-72 hours)

John

PS - the WAIT beings once BOTH things exist - the name (with the values) and the SITE (at surpass!).

I did my domain first before signing up for hosting and it worked fine for me. I think it's best to do it in that order because you need to put in your domain when you sign-up, and you never know.. someone may grab that domain just before you.

Nope, it doesnt matter which order you register it in. Usually, you buy the Domain, then switch the Nameservers, then purchase the hosting.
