Now or later - order to purchase

Well I finally managed to convince 5 people to join Surmunity lol. Much harder than it sounds. =)

Anyway, I was just wondering if I needed to purchase the plan first, then ask Kayla about the free domain name. Or can I get the free domain name first, and leave the purchasing for a week or so (ie until my birthday and I get the money).

Also wondering, if I purchase the yearly, and decide in a couple of months to change my plan (unlikely, but I still need to ask), do I pay the monthly rate for what I have used, and then the new rate for the new plan?
