SSL Server

What are the procedures for securing part of my site once I purchase an SSL certificate?

Once you get the certificate and it is installed, your entire web directory (/) is protected. You just access it by putting https:// in the address, and refer to that address in your coding.

So to secure just a directory that contains the critical code and data, I code it for https://www.mysite.x and leave the rest of the site at http://www.mysite.x ?

I believe that this is correct, but I'm sure that there is a little more to it...you can make pages require that they be accessed via SSL, for example.
I don't have a clue as to how...

I'm thinking that I would identify a directory during the SSL installation from Surpass. They would apply the certificate to that directory and anything moving into and out of it would require the https:// prefix.

If this isn't correct, let me know.

Thanks,
-Steve
