My server blocked me...?

I was performing, via FTP, a backup of a large quantity of files on my server, in preparation for an overhaul. This involved 500 files or so in a span of 5-10 minutes.

Suddenly, 14 files from the end, the server stopped responding, and continues to do so. No access whatsoever to my server from my home IP. Not email, not FTP, not HTTP. Connecting via my cellphone network works fine though, but if I use my home wifi (static IP) from my phone, it's blocked.

Is there some sort of transfer limit to avoid spammers? Now I'm stuck, and unable to do the stuff I wanted to get done overnight.
