Hi guys,

I am new at this, after a very negative experience with some sort of host... Doesn't matter....

I need to transfer immediately some databases from a server to the surpasshosting one.

Could you tell me how to do it? Please don't tell me download it to your pc and upload it back... My next question would be: How do you download it and upload it?

Another question: is there the possibility to buy extra bandwidth or extra space if I will need some or you just need to upgrade? I have looked around but I have not seen anything about this.

Thanks for everything and... I think I will like this group. :bananadance:

Ciao from Italy!

Luigi

Yes, once your get your account setup here, you can email support and provide them with your domain name, username, and password for both the new surpass account and the old hosting account, and they can do this for you. I don't know if there is any charge for this service or not, but emailing presalessurpasshosting.com would be a good place to find out from.

Buying extra space and bandwidth should not be a problem, almost anything is possible. Again, send that to presales to get more details about it.

In my experience if your old host used C Panel you are ok but if they used a different control panel they may not be able to do it. This was my experience with my Invision Board Data Base.

Lol, I just transferred my board from one server to this one, and I did it successfully. (the first time, I am proud to say)

You have to generate a mysql dump, go into the new myphpadmin (at surpass) make the same database name, then click on "Sql" and upload the dump you downloaded.

It should create all the tables from the old database in the new one including the posts, members, etc. Just make sure that all your paths are correct and directories are chmoded correctly. Shouldn't be too hard a process.

^NOT tooting my horn or anything, just thought maybe this would help, some at least.

Thank you.

Unfortunately they have been absolutely unhelpful!

Very good in words but nothing has happened in facts.
I start thinking that these companies are all alike.

I have supplied twice passwords and usernames, I have asked (not ordered) to do it by yesterday night and they have said that they would have done it and now.. I am stuck, thanking the presales desk...

Not bad to start with... Now on a slow line I am doing it myself bearing in mind that this delay has costed me $200... So, my Bronze Reseller plan is 370 $ instead of $ 170.

In the meantim I need to transfer the Db's and, I cannot see in the CPanel the files I transfered last night for another site: I can see the files in the File Manager but I cannot see on the Cpanel the utilised space...

I am bl***dy furious!

THANKS EVER SO MUCH SURPASSINGHOST...

Thank you Suzume,

I have done it and seems to have worked but, last questions

1. Does it take the User and Password automatically or I need to type it again and assing it to the Db

2. How can I test if it is working considering that the site is not hosted on SurpassH yet?

Thanks for your help!

Luigi
