I own elitegeeks.com and elitegeeks.net, but not elitegeeks.org however elitegeeks.org is redirecting to my site elitegeeks.com can I get this blocked somehow?

I contacted verisign waiting for a reply, I owned elitegeeks.org years ago, but lost it when I forgot to renew. The guy that bought it was from a rival group. I am afraid he will redirect it , get it popular then direct it to his own stuff and make us (elitegeeks club) look bad.

dont know about blocking but would be a good idea to put a statment on the main page telling people not to use the elitegeeks.org address but use elitegeeks.com address instead from now on.

tell them that the .org address is simply sending them to the .com address and it will save them problems in the future when the .org address stops redirecting them???

just an idea

Okay, here's how you get rid of the squatter. You have 2 options.

1. Offer the guy $89.00 for the domain name
2. Go to http://www.idearegister.com/ and register your site. Then send a cease letter to the guy that owns the URL along with a copy to the Registrar of the URL. If they do not - you can take them to court and sue his ass off!

Just a thought

Why offer him $89.00? how can that be a option if he wont respond to my emails. wouldn't the registrar be responsible?
Since its being directed with a service wouldn't I be able to get all traffic redirected from that URL blocked?

May be you can try to use a script to trace where the referer from using 'HTTP_REFERER'. If it's from the domain not own by you, simply redirect the traffic to either your hosting site or an invalid referer message.

Hope this help.

the problem with that kinda redirect is that if people come from a search engine, or were clicking on an actual link to his site, they wouldnt get there

you can always try a transfer. I think if there is no response for 3 days, then you get the domain. It's always worth a shoot!
