You changed the permission of the files to 707? I don't know how well that's going to work, if anything normal files and directories should be 644 and 755 respectively. I'm able to connect to that machine, pass49, via ftp, but I do not have a login and password, so that's all I can do is connect.

I've never used the .htaccess file to modify file/directory permissions. Once you connect to your site via ftp, can you change permissions? How about cpanel? Is cpanel functioning at all?
I dont like 755 at all.... I change all my folders permissions and files via chmod but I cant do that now.... I can change permissions via ftp. shell or file manager... Cpanel is OK so are some other sites that dont take advantage of xoops cms

I agree but I install what is availible via fantastico, feeling that they support what is available... I usually try and tackle security my self and I feel the site was pretty tight, not impenetrable but pretty tight as I have been hit before... now the site is a night mare.

Than you are setting yourself up to be hit. Netenberg hasn't updated to the new Xoops system yet, and I can't see why they haven't. According to Xoops, this has been available since October, and they still haven't applied this patch to the Fantastico version. Fantastico doesn't support anything, they just give you an easy three click install of a script. Fantastico leaves you having to wait for them to update so you can update, and as you can see here, this is way out of wack. They should have this updated to .2 and they don't.
