emails per timelimit?

hello, I've a question that has me somewhat stumped, as I have no way to find this out. Exactly how many emails per hours (or whatever time period) am I allowed to send out?

A client of mine does a mass-mailing, typically about 1 a week / biweekly, and has somewhere in the neighborhood of 4000 recipients, with more to be added. So the question is, when I specify the number of emails to be sent at a time in the cron job, how many can be sent out at any given time?

Please consider, I am NOT trying to spam anyone, this is not solicitation of anything of the sort, all users on this list have given their explicit consent to receive these emails.

Any help would be quite appreciated. Thank you

I think it's around 300 emails per hour allowed to be sent.. But I am not exactly sure..

I emailed support and they said it was 500 an hour on my server but I would send less out an hour so if he tries to send some normal emails it will still go through.
