Under DNS functions in WHM do you not have "Edit DNS Zone"?

Well the WHM is a little watered down on the reseller server. If the function is not there you will have to ask support to do it.

It is available on Dedi and VPS servers.

It's a very useful tool and I need it. I will submit a ticket to support team, i'm pretty sure they will solve the problem.

If you are a reseller that has the option to use custom DNS (Bronze and above) and you have registered them at your domain registrar, you can use your custom DNS on your domain record. Your clients can use your custom DNS on their domain record.

It is not often that I tend to need that - but it is very handy when moving a site with zero downtime. A scenario in which the kind offer of support to "do it for you" is not quite practical.

the second quote you made is referring to custom nameservers regarding your own domain. not the ability to control name servers on the server.

true ... it says that bronze and above can "use" custom DNS, not that they can edit it themself.
