Yes, the IT folks are being a bit difficult. I have spoken with the network manager and he throws a lot of techno speak at me. In the end, moving seems the best option.

I have contact support (JCE-465643)
9:27a-initial contact
10:09a-forwarded to sales
12:33p-contact from sales with some questions
12:48p--my response to sales including request to invoice me the $3/site for the move (9 sites...I use my account for personal sites only)

Now I am waiting for the next step

Okay, I have been in contact with support. The transfer is paid for and should be starting soon, I hope

9:46am. 6-12 hours seems like a long time. Anyone have an experience with this?

Transfers can take quite a bit of time due to troubleshooting, differences in MySQL/PHP version, etc. It should be taken care of within that period, though...

Other than two small Wordpress blogs, I think everything else is straight HTML. I hope that helps. Will I know when they start or only when they are done?
