I removed 2 more abusive users from this box just before 10AM when Kayla told me about the high load. Whatever the problem was, it's not showing up right now -- the load is at a fairly decent level.

No problem, I'd be just as annoyed as you. I'm doing my best to contain whatever's causing the issues on this box -- unfortunately it comes down to finding the right person at the right time; there's not much magic behind this that allows me to see who was causing load at exactly what time.

Server load is still up around 8.54 at 2 PM eastern

It seems that this server is always over 8...I can't really remember a time when it wasn't below 8.

I have seen it below 8..heck below 4 quite a few times.

Yes.. it's been below 8... and yes, it's been below 4. But the MEDIAN has been 6 or higher in my experience. It spends a LOT of time "red"....

Are you guys having problems with specific services, or are you just reporting high load at this point? 8.xx load is higher than usual, but by no means is the server running slowly right now; high load average does not necessarily mean that the server is overloaded or anything like that...
