Could this be my fault.......?

A few times in the past my IP address was wrongly blocked and I was unable to access any of the accounts on my reseller account.
I'm having trouble again today and sent a support ticket in, I have no idea if it's an IP issue yet as I've not had a reply, BUT, this might sound stupid, I'm wondering if it's my own fault.

I have been doing a lot of testing and that means uploading and downloading a lot of files to the server, on various accounts as well as uploading the websites I have been working on. I use Smart FTP and ofen have perhaps 15 concurrent connections active, I was doing this again yesterday.
I got an error message when I was working yesterday when the server disconnected me saying, " server closed connection, too many connections from this IP" - or something to that effect.
Am I possibly causing the problem myself, accidentally? If I am, how many connections would it be 'safe' for me to have at once?

Thanks in advance.

whoa... 15 connections... why do you need that many? and, today is a national holiday so there is probably a smaller staff on duty. Therefore your ticket may take a while to be answered.

I use that many just because I might have hundreds of files to go to one domain, dozens to another etc..... and I like to get it all done at the same time as quickly as possible.
Oh crikey, I forgot today was a holiday in the US, oh well, will just have to wait and see.

Well, you need to remember that each server has a global limit of connections (50, for most), so when you use 15, there's a much higher risk of preventing others from connecting. I'd recommend you start out low and find what's comfortable. Or, ZIP content and extract it through CPanel's file manager (it's usually hundreds of small files that lengthen FTP upload times).

Ditto on the zipping comment. Speeds up FTP b a factor of 10 to just FTP a single file. FTP does a lot of chatting back and forth for each file and if you are doing that for hundreds of files, your FTP will bog down.
