We're all friends here, right?

And friend's can ask stupid questions right?

So, here's mine...

I have someone who needs help managing their domain. Before I say yes and help them, I want to make sure I'm answering correctly. (It's this strange little quirk I have.)

I've attached a screenshot (I think?) - can I just fill in the first two name servers and then the four bottom IP? Why do they currently show four name servers?

Just to clarify... Are you seeing this on our server, or on their old hosting account?

It's on their old, and much hated I might add, host. They have been trying to switch their hosting to me for 6 weeks and Ipower/Tucows would not approve a domain name transfer. We tried 4 times. In the mean time, Ipower renewed the client's domain name and now they are stuck with them for another 60 days.

They want to get away from them desperately. They have asked if I can manage their domain there for them while I host their site.

Make more sense now or even less? (I tend over talk a situation)

Does the whois information for his domain (since I don't see the domain in question), show him as the registrant or Ipower. If it shows him as the registrant, then more than likely he would first have to unlock (turn off transfer protection) the domain at Ipower first and request an auth code more than likely as well. Then, should be able to transfer the domain to another registrar. If he has private registration enabled with them, he may need to turn that off first before doing anything else so it shows his name as the registrant, if it doesn't.

I had to do all that to get a domain name transferred from Network Solutions to GoDaddy.

She's is the registrant. The domain was unlocked and we also had the auth code. They would not take the privacy protection off so she faxed the transfer authorization, twice. They ignored it. There was no number to call. Ipower just said, "sorry we can't help you." Then they renewed it so she has to wait 60 days before she can try again.

If she can get them to remove the privacy protection we shouldn't have a problem. They have a software glitch that won't allow her to do it in her admin panel. It just says error. They gave her the run around when she asked them to do it.

Well, you can at least like you said change the Name Servers to yours over here and the ip addresses as well.

So then there won't be any problems if I just list the two names servers and input the IP four times in the bottom blanks and then leave the rest blank?

Just making sure. I don't want the client to have any more trouble.
