Starting an Online Business

So, I'm considering starting a web design business with small hosting as a promo or discounted service when purchasing a design.

So, is there a tutorial or some reference sheet that explains the legalities of starting/running and online business? Maybe for more than just hosting, like ecommerce?

I've tried Google, but it only likes to dig up how to create a ecommerce website, but not the legalities (if any) like registering the business name and tax information.

Thanks a bunch

What state are you in? The best source of information is at your Secretary of States website.... although nothing will be clearly written out for you... it will all be obfuscated in legal jargon.

Edit:... what kayla says...

And see if there's a nearby SCORE office. They do free business counseling SCORE | Counselors to America's Small Business | SCORE
