Reseller vs VPS

Hi

what is the difference between the Reseller Plan and the VPS Plan ?

let's look at the basic ones..

Bronze Reseller Plan
Size: 15 GB
BW: 2000 GB
Price: $15/month

VPS Plan
Size: 15 GB
BW: 500 GB
Price: $55/month

how's that ! ..
Bronze Reseller Price is cheaper than VPS Price
BUT
Bronze Reseller "Size & BW" is more than VPS "Size & BW" !!!

If that's really the case, why is VPS is more expensive !?

please, explain

A virtual private server (VPS, also referred to as Virtual Dedicated Server or VDS) is a method of partitioning a physical server computer into multiple servers such that each has the appearance and capabilities of running on its own dedicated machine. Each virtual server can run its own full-fledged operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted.
I don't think it could have been explained better. With a VPS, you have many advantages over a normal reseller account on a shared server. With your own VPS you won't have to worry about other customers on the server bringing it down for one reason or another.

Also with your VPS, you are given root access over it and you have free reign over which OS and software you have installed, whereas a shared server software/OS is chosen by the Administrators/Management.

You can also resell reseller space on your VPS.

It all depends on what your clients are using. Think of a VPS as running a product such as Virtual PC with several OS's on your home computer. If you take all these Virtual OS's off your home PC, you now have a dedicated computer.

Even though a VPS gives you a simulated dedicated environment (root access) you still are sharing that sever with several other customers. With a dedicated, you get your own server to do with what you need to.

I would say it's good to start with a VPS, and then upgrade to a dedicated once you outgrow that.

I think this is not possible in pratically. Because VPS products does not provide many RAM as you know. Also VPS accounts share same CPU resource with other VPS users on the server. Dedicated servers better than VPS to sell reseller hosting.

if you want to run a PhpList install and not worry about throttling to get around the 300 messages / hr limit, then you will have to go VPS. I have a customer with a massive list and I send 10K messages a month on their behalf (it is an opt in announcement list) and I have to play with a lot of throttling and reloading of the page in order to get the sending to process (not command line support). VPS would make that problem go away..... but I don't have enough customers to bump up to the price of a VPS.
