Are there limits on how many emails we can send?

Set up phplist and trying to send to about 1,000 addresses. Seems to be hung up for an hour.

Was hoping that phplist could handle this.

If you could let me know if there is limits, would be appreciated.

thanks in advance for your answers.

In shared / reseller hosting there is a limit of 350 emails per hour per domain.

Since you are using phpList you can use the email throttling feature to limit how many emails are sent out at a time so that you stay within this limit. You may want to send a few less than the limit in case you need to send regular emails at the same time.

Oh oh... Didn't do that.

So all accounts under the reseller plan are limited to 350 per hour?

Made no changes to phplist, should I cancel the send? It is stuck in this send process queue. Or will it continue until it is done?

Oh boy...

Each domain is limited to 350 per hour (not 350 total for all accounts)/

Any emails sent after the 350 limit should bounce back and fail to send.

The script will likely come to that point once it hits the limit, so you may want to cancel and reconfigure. You may accidentally send out a second email to some people though)

Oh. Not sure how to stop it.

Also, not sure where to configure the limit on phplist.

Odd just got an email from the program that says it sent to almost half the email addresses and it is entitled PHPlist Maillist Processing info. Don't know if that means it is still trying. Anyone with experience with this program?

I believe you can set this in the config file. See more here: phplist Documentation: Setting the Send Speed (Rate)

It is probably still trying. It may have sent the emails successfully if it took a long time, or the emails may start failing to be sent once it hits that limit

Okay, so I get the need for 350 an hour throttling on a shared server resource. I have a client with 100 pop accounts ... if each person sends 3 at peak time well we have a problem Houston ...

So what other options exist on/off surpass? Someone elsewhere suggested VPN as an option but pricing is significantly higher (on that service you had to buy the vpn, then pay to have cpanel installed/maintained, then pay to have OS updates installed, etc.) ... I tried the surpass live help concierge, but sadly no operators available even though it initially says "There is [sic] currently 2 agents online". I do like that service ... when it is staffed.

Anyway, what options exist when the throttling may become problematic?
